What started as a family business in Lexington, is still operating as one to this day. Erika and her younger brother are the second-generation owners of MMI, taking the baton from her mother and father who started the company almost three decades ago as Monthie Mechanical Inc. Even though Erika is the daughter of the owners she still had to work through the ranks like everyone else. No special treatment here as she had to earn that baton pass, so Erika knows pretty much all the ins and outs of the business. Her summers were spent with her mother and father, helping to keep the business running as smooth as possible. This is actually where she started here first paying job, being in charge of stocking the vending machines! Since then, she has worn many hats within the MMI from all the way from custodial duties to sales then earning her Master HVAC license. Today Erika is the head of operations.

Commercial Hygienics is a new and upcoming business focuses specifically on commercial cleaning and disinfecting. They're more focused on offices, schools, universities, commercial buildings and basically anywhere large groups of people gather as this is where a lot of the need is at the moment. There is this place where one of our employees would go after finishing up at work to get some exercise, learn some self defense and blow off some steam and stress which obviously does not come from working here. She would come start coming into work earlier, be more focused and instead of getting a snack she would practice some of the moves and combos. Some of the stuff she learned at the gym would learn at the gyms and would even try to teach us a thing or two. We got into it a little with her as we had no idea how empowering it felt to know HOW to defend yourself having some tools in your belt from all sorts of fighting disciplines.
